Question
What can I store in the units?
Within reason... Anything! We have Units that vary in size to suit your requirements.
For the safety of other customers and their belongings, we do have certain items that cannot be stored. These include:
• Aerosol cans
• Explosives
• Radioactive goods
• Perishable goods
• Firearms or ammunition
• Gas canisters
• Illegal goods
• Hazardous or toxic products
• Livestock or plants
• Pollutants, contaminated goods or waste
Do you provide the padlocks?
Every tenant is responsible for their own unit and padlock. Padlocks are available for purchase on site, along with other packaging essentials.
Can I change the size of my Unit after signing a contract?
Yes – We appreciated that tenants’ circumstances can often and frequently change. We have a variety of Unit sizes and if one more suitable is available we can amend and transfer over your contract.
We have a variety of unit sizes available, and therefore prices will vary. Discounts are available when paying in advance. For a full price list please don’t hesitate to contact us.

How much does storage cost?
We require payments to be made prior to the start of your contract. We have a card facility on site, and accept all major cards including Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, Jcb among others. Frequency, payment method and payment date will be agreed upon signing of your contract, with full details listed in our Terms and Conditions. The only currency we accept is GBP (£)
How and When do I pay for my Unit?
No – We have rolling contracts which mean they are ongoing until we are informed otherwise. If you have paid in advance, then refunds will be given where applicable.
Will I be in a fixed term contract?
We have 24 hour CCTV, vehicle registration recognition and a signing in log book upon arrival. All units will be individually padlocked and no keys for tenant padlocks are kept by Colne Valley Self Storage. During closed hours, along with the CCTV, the entire site gated, locked and alarmed.
How secure will my belongings be?
Tenants are responsible for insuring their items. Some home insurance providers do cover storage units, as long as you make them aware that your personal belongings have been taken out of your property and into a Storage Unit. We advise to contact your home insurance provider first. If you need insurance, we can recommend Insurastore Insurance, and you can find them at www.insurastore.com
Will my items be insured?
Contractually you are required to give us 14 days notice of your required end date. However, we understand that circumstances often change, so we would appreciate you notifying us as soon as you possibly can if the end date falls within the 14 day notice period.
On the day of the termination of your contract, you need to remove all contents of the Unit and leave the Unit in the same condition it was in at the start of your rental agreement.
You must confirm you have emptied the unit to a member of staff in the office, who can cancel your contract, finalise the account, and sort out any final payments or refunds.
